Well, as a beauty editor for the past thirteen years, I can assure you, there is no such thing as perfect skin. There is however a little makeup secret that all of the world’s most beautiful and photographed women swear by and that’s concealer. Unlike foundation, the art of concealing is a bit more intricate. There are various methods and beliefs systems behind the right way and the wrong way to use concealer. Beauty News: MAC Cosmetics Unveils the 2012 MAC VIVA Glam Ad Campaign

 

No one could have imagined a pairing quite like this but for some crazy reason, it really works! MAC’s latest spokespersons for their 2012 Viva Glam campaign are Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin and they are working their sexy yet fun shoot. Nicki and MAC have a long history as Nicki has admitted to her obsession with MAC pink lipsticks. The hip-hop diva recently launched her very own MAC lipstick called Pink Friday. Ricky Martin may not be a makeup fanatic but he sure does have major style and a strong and personal connection to the gay community which makes him an obvious choice for the Viva Glam campaign being that 100% of the proceeds from the sales of this special collection goes to AIDS research and funding.

Vivienne Westwood is known for her strong design sense and her unique styling sensibilities. At the Spring/Summer 2012 collection on Sunday evening, she sent models down the runway with the most talked about makeup of the season both in London and New York. Bright eyes and highly pigmented cheeks beautifully complemented the collection which was eco-chic with touches of European modernity. With this incredible  look, the eyes are the focal point. Even though we don’t recommend recreating this look verbatim, we can advise to play with the look and pair it down a bit but stick to the overall idea which is going bright and bold on the lids while leaving lips barely there. This look starts with MAC’s Pro Hi-Def Cyan Paint Stick and Electric Eel Eye Shadow blended over the entire eye as a base. Bitter, Juxt, and MAC Pro Lime Shadows are then blended over the lid for a highlighting effect. Next MAC Pro Hi-Def Chromaline is applied on the lower and upper lash line to brighten and bolden the eye. 43 Lash is brushed through lashes for definition. Cheeks are dressed with Well Dressed Powder Blush, MAC Pro Azalea and MAC Pro Salsarose Powder Blushes Pro Palette. Lips are lightly swiped with Woo Me Kissable Lipcolor.

Just as New York Fashion Week was coming to an end, London Fashion Week was just beginning to ramp up. Over the weekend, there were several amazing shows where UK designers pulled out all of the stops with their Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Sass & Bide had one of the most highly anticipated shows as their brand has gained serious momentum both in the UK and across the pond. Beautywise, MAC and the Sass & Bide design team opted to go with a bold, somewhat futuristic look that accentuated the eyes and cheeks.  The word for this look is strong, almost warrior-like which is on trend with the NYFW shows as many of the looks highlighted one feature while leaving the rest of the face bare. This look starts with MAC’s Studio Moisture Cream to prep and prime skin. Next MAC’s Face & Body foundation is applied all over for a flawless canvas. Pink Rebel Lustre Drops are applied to the cheekbones for a highlight. Rusty Metal X Cream Shadow is blended above the cheekbone for a dramatic effect. Shell and Hush Cream Colour Base is blended in for some additional shine. Brows are highlighted with Blonde and Dirty Blonde Impeccable Brow Pencil while Cork Eye Shadow is blended in to help darken and deepen brows. Venetian Tarnish and Fusion Gold Metal X Cream Shadow are blended together and applied over the entire lid. Lips are left nude with a slight hint of balm.
