L’Amour Fou

5 May

We’re still not quite over the death of the great Yves Saint Laurent. That said, we cannot wait to see “L’Amour Fou”, a new film that documents the decades-long relationship between the designer and Pierre Berge. The core of the film is the 2009 auction of the pair’s amazing and priceless art collection. You would be hard-pressed not to find a handful of collections every season that do not exhibit some whispers of YSL’s influence, and we are dying to see this film for a fleeting glimpse of the coutourier’s private life, including his relationship with Berge, who remained steadfastly by his side until the end. It can also not be overstated how much Saint Laurent did to open doors for black models, as he was one of the first major designers to use them regularly to walk his shows. “L’Amour Fou” opens in New York City on May 13th and will open wider to select cities soon after. Take a sneak peek at the trailer below.
