The Collections: Suno FW11

5 May

Ever have one of those days when you wish you could just blindly throw on a couple of pieces, regardless of print or fabric, and just have it work? Designers Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno have produced an entire collection of seemingly magpie looks that are deceivingly chic and sophisticated in their execution. Among the dizzying array of prints are florals, plaids and graphic stripes that have a vintage quality but look decidedly of-the-moment at the same time.  These prints are mixed together in a way that is a jolt to the eye, but also have the vibe of a world-traveler who is wearing pieces from Kenya, Guatemala and Istanbul all in the same outfit- it shouldn’t work, but you know it does, somehow. Since this is a fall collection, knitwear is important, and the oversized coats and knitted vests are simply gorgeous and are a nice alternative to the exaggerated cable knits that seem to be in every collection and every store for fall. A slim apron-over-pants silhouette is just cool and is the 2.0 version of the dress-over-pants look that was popular several years ago.
