Yohji Yamamoto Documentary

18 May

One of the first designers that we fell seriously and hopelessly in love with is Yohji Yamamoto. We adore that his clothes are for girls who read books and go to art galleries on Friday nights and who aren’t particularly interested in dressing for men (at least not all men). That’s why we nearly fainted when we got word that there was a documentary about him coming out this fall. Called “This is My Dream”, the film follows Yamamoto and captures his life, his work and his creative process. All apparently with a ciggie hanging from his mouth, which of course, seems to run counter to his association with Adidas via his Y-3 collection. It is in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Y-3 collection that there will be a special screening of “This is My Dream’ tonight at the Tribeca Grand.
