When we first heard that Kate Spade, the accessories label known for luxe preppy top-handle bags and whimsical ad campaigns, was teaming up with LA-based demin brand Current/Elliot for a capsule collection of handbags, we were more than a little perplexed. East coast prep and West coast laid-back cool seem to be diametrically opposed concepts, after all. But when we got the image of the bag above, all doubts evaporated- it’s the perfect mash-up of structure and distressed casual.
The collection, called “Westward”, will debut in August and consist of 6 bags, ranging in price from $245-$1,295. Knowing how we tend towards flights of fancy when it comes to fashion, we are kind of hoping that this is just the jumping off point for Current/Elliott into the world of luxe accessories and an expanded RTW collection, because we are already dedicated fans of their jeans. A girl can dream, right?
