Fashion/Art Inspiration: Franz Klein

26 Aug

Franz Kline, "Mahoning", 1956

Abstract Expressionist painter Franz Klein serves as the inspiration for our current love of the hyper-graphic pairing of black and white. The clean, dramatic qualities of black and white (both separately and paired together) easily lends itself towards minimalism, but we also just love to play up the stark, moody vibe. Klein’s paintings, with their severe slashings of black across the canvas, almost seem to vibrate with kinetic energy. We are inspired to seek out pieces with discreet cutouts, midnight black ensembles and perfect looks combining both colors.
