The Collections: Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2012

25 Jan

The lens of the fashion world has shifted to the couture, but we are still gleefully haunted by the Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2012 collection.  Most of the time, words are easy to find when reflecting on the impact of a collection, but Sarah Burton has again left us utterly speechless. Beauty Addictions: Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35

25 Jan
Smashbox, BB Cream, $39,

Whenever beauty editors and beauty fanatics start tweeting and raving about a product, our ears perk up and we get to digging around for what makes this product so special. Smashbox is always on our radar and now they’ve got a bonafide reason to celebrate with their latest launch – BB Cream. The best thing about the internet is the fact that it serves as a place where ideas, images and opinion can flow freely. But at this moment, the United States Congress is considering legislation that could deeply curtail that free exchange  under the guise of stopping online piracy.  Of course, we support efforts to stop those who seek to profit from other people’s creativity, but the far-reaching consequences of the S.O.P.A. (Stop Online Piracy Act) bill could result in the censorship of words and images that are posted online. That, we do not support. So The Black Market is going quiet for 24 hours in protest of this potentially dangerous legislation. Learn more about S.O.P.A here.
